Biography:
Charles A. James is vice president, general counsel and secretary for the Chevron Corporation. Before joining Chevron in 2002, James was the assistant attorney general in charge of the Antitrust Division at the U.S. Department of Justice. Before joining the Department of Justice, Charles practiced law at Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue in Washington, D.C., where he led the firm’s worldwide antitrust and trade regulation practice. Throughout his career, Charles has also been active in several professional and public service organizations, including the American Bar Association’s Business Law and Antitrust Law sections and the Antitrust Council of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. He was first appointed to the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of America’s National Board in July 2008 and currently serves as a member of the Chapter Performance Committee. Charles is also on the boards of the San Francisco Ballet and the Institute for Legal Reform. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Wesleyan University and his juris doctorate from George Washington University. He lives in Alamo, Calif.
