Wish Kids Go to Bat for Fox Sports Supports PSAs

Make-A-Wish Campaign Runs Through MLB Season to World Series

FOX Sports and the Make-A-Wish Foundation® are teaming up during the 2008 Major League Baseball season as part of the network’s new on-air charitable initiative, FOX Sports Supports.

FOX Sports Supports will raise awareness, provide funds and spur volunteerism for select health-related charities. FOX Sports employees chose the Make-A-Wish Foundation as one of the charities to be supported this year on FOX Sports’ primary broadcast properties – Major League Baseball, NASCAR, NFL and the college football Bowl Championship Series.

"Everyone at FOX Sports is committed to assisting the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the other worthy charities as part of FOX Sports Supports," said Bill Wanger, senior vice president of research and programming, FOX Sports. "By combining the power of the FOX Sports brand with the four greatest sports in the world, we really believe we can help make a difference in the lives of courageous wish kids and countless others."

The Make-A-Wish® campaign runs through the entire Major League Baseball season on FOX, including the All-Star Game, National League Championship Series and World Series. FOX Sports is backing the initiative with pregame and in-game mentions, plus public service announcements featuring FOX Sports personalities and, for the Make-A-Wish Foundation, wish kids who were granted baseball-related wishes.

Wish kids Codey and Daniel from the Orange County & Inland Empire chapter were the stars of the Make-A-Wish PSA spots shot in late April at FOX Studios in Los Angeles. Codey, who wished to visit Wrigley Field in Chicago, and Daniel, who wished to meet the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim with his cousin Sammy, were joined on camera by Fox MLB pregame show host Jeanne Zelasko and analysts Kevin Kennedy and Eric Karros.

The boys and their families enjoyed their behind-the-scenes look at the studio and the thrill of shooting a national TV spot. Codey, 11, recited his lines like a pro with Kennedy and Karros, while Daniel, 4, smiled cutely at just the right moments as he and Zelasko posed in front of the camera and bright lights.

Watch for Codey and Daniel on the MLB on FOX broadcasts throughout the season.
