Betty Crocker® and the Make-A-Wish Foundation® Bake Up Multi-year Partnership To Bring Magic To Lives of Children

Stirring up Wishes™ 12 Wishes in 12 Weeks Spring Cupcake Promotion Invites Families to Share the Power of a Wish®

Visit StirringUpWishes.com to read about Chloe's wish to go to her grandparents' farm in England and discover her favorite Betty Crocker® cupcake recipe, "Strawberry-Cream Cheese Cupcakes."

Betty Crocker® is using her magic Red Spoon to stir up 12 Wishes in 12 Weeks for Make-A-Wish® kids across the country. The 12 Wishes in 12 Weeks Spring Cupcake promotion makes it fun and easy for cupcake fans to share the power of a wish. The promotion is part of Stirring Up Wishes, a new multi-year cause marketing program by Betty Crocker to celebrate its partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

To kick off the initiative, Betty Crocker is giving each Make-A-Wish chapter the chance to receive funding for one of 12 wishes that Betty Crocker is helping the Make-A-Wish Foundation grant this year. The best part is that consumers can help Betty grant the 12 wishes by voting online for their favorite Make-A-Wish chapter to receive one of the wishes for a Make-A-Wish kid. Voting is allowed daily during the 12-week campaign – just visit www.StirringUpWishes.com between March 2 and May 25, 2009. The more votes a chapter receives, the greater the opportunity for them to receive a chance to win funding for a wish from Betty Crocker. Chapter supporters are encouraged to use the “send-a-friend” email feature to rally their friends, co-workers, neighbors and family to help drive voting. With the user-friendly Make-A-Wish chapter locator, voters can also easily identify the chapter serving their town.

“We are delighted to kick-off our new partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation through the 12 Wishes in 12 Weeks promotion,” said Anton Vincent, Vice President, Betty Crocker Baking. “Celebrating special moments and delivering joy to families is at the core of what Betty Crocker stands for. We hope to bring a little magic to the lives of Make-A-Wish children and are happy to provide Betty Crocker consumers a way to help celebrate these special wish moments.”

Celebrating Special Wish Moments

The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants a wish every 40 minutes to a child with a life-threatening medical condition. For these children, the Foundation brings hope, strength and joy into their lives. During the 12 Wishes in 12 Weeks promotion, Betty Crocker is celebrating these special moments at www.StirringUpWishes.com. Each week, a new wish story and Betty Crocker cupcake will be featured online. Consumers can help Betty Crocker celebrate each wish kid’s special wish moment by learning about the child’s story and baking his or her favorite cupcake for friends and family.

“Granting a wish every 40 minutes takes a tremendous commitment from our chapters and volunteers, to ensure that wish kids and their families enjoy an unforgettable wish experience,” said David Williams, Make-A-Wish Foundation of America president and chief executive officer. “12 Wishes in 12 Weeks is a wonderful way to celebrate the moment a child’s wish comes true and recognize chapters that work so hard to make that moment happen.”

12 Wishes in 12 Weeks is part of Betty Crocker’s $250,000 multi-year commitment to the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Elements of the program will include: an online campaign and launch of microsite, www.StirringUpWishes.com; local awareness building and Make-A-Wish chapter event sponsorships; employee volunteerism activities; and promotion of wish stories and recipes on select Betty Crocker cake and frosting packages. About Betty Crocker: Since her creation in 1921, Betty Crocker has been one of the strongest brand icons in the food industry. A brand associated with quality and trust, Betty Crocker and the red spoon symbol appear on more than 300 General Mills products including ready-to-spread frostings and mixes that make some of the country’s best cakes, brownies, cookies, muffins and other baked goods.

As a pioneer in the dessert mix category, General Mills was one of the first companies to introduce layer cake mix in 1947; it did so under the Betty Crocker name. This started a revolution in baking, providing homemakers with a convenient, reliable way to replicate the quality and taste of “homemade” without the hassle. Today, Betty Crocker products are the best-selling dessert mixes on the market.
