When asked how he came up with the design for the backyard tree house of his dreams, Jacob’s response wasn’t too complicated.
“I told my sister what to draw, and she drawed it,” the 6-year-old wish kid said through a toothy grin.
Soon after, Jacob met with Make-A-Wish Foundation® of the Tri-Counties volunteers to let them know about his heartfelt wish. Jacob’s mother, Xandra, explained, “We went to a store in Northridge once and Jacob spotted a tree house. From that moment on, he knew what he wanted.” Jacob’s tree house had specific requirements. It was to have a fireman’s pole, swing, and ladder.
This unique tree house even came with its own tree. It consists of a giant, hollowed-out tree-stump with a large tree house perched on top. A local company donated products and services to help make Jacob’s custom-built tree house a reality.
“We are so excited that, by building this tree house, we helped make a difference for Jacob … Our entire staff was so grateful for the opportunity to share in this experience,” said Ron Daniels of Daniels Wood Land, Inc. Jacob’s wish was sponsored by UAW-GM and local dealer, Wm. L. Morris Chevrolet, in conjunction with the 13th annual Make A Difference Day, a national day of lending a helping hand to others. GM representatives were there for the ground breaking as well as the wish presentation.
“This wish came at a great time,” said Xandra “Jacob has been going through some kidney surgery lately, and this wish gives him something to look forward to. He told just about everyone in the hospital about his wish. The Make-A-Wish Foundation is such a wonderful group. The entire thing is all about the child and their wish.”
