A very special gift arrived at Jessika's house. It was certainly an exciting event for this five year-old, and also an important day for the Make-A-Wish Foundation®
of Georgia & Alabama. As Jessika
and her family celebrated the arrival of her new playhouse, the Make-A-Wish® chapter celebrated its 300th wish granted.
Jessika, who suffered from leukemia, would not settle for an ordinary playhouse. She wanted to make hers original and was very specific in her requests. Her house would have pink trim and purple curtains as well as a porch. This playhouse was so important to her that she even considered an alarm system, because according to Jessika, “you just never know.” She planned to spend a lot of time getting her house settled, and arranging space where she can play with her dolls. Volunteer Peggy Willingham donated a table and chair set for the playhouse and worked to coordinate the specifics of Jessika’s wish down to the last detail.
While the playhouse arrived in Covington, it took several weeks for Jessika and wish volunteers to help get everything set just right. Once her playhouse was officially ready, a press conference and celebration marked the completion of Jessika’s wish as well as the chapter's accomplishment.
