Five-year-old Christian likes to look at pretty women, but he had a special girl in mind when he learned he qualified for a wish from the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Oklahoma. The lovestruck boy wished to meet pop princess Jessica Simpson.
With sponsorship from UAW-GM, wish granters arranged for Christian – along with his parents and two older brothers – to rendezvous with Simpson in Seattle, Washington. Before meeting up with the entertainer, the family spent a day taking in some tourist attractions, including Seattle's Museum of Flight, the Seattle Aquarium, and dinner at the Space Needle.
The next evening, Christian's wish came true. The family rode in a limousine to the Jessica Simpson concert. At the venue, they were personally escorted into Jessica's dressing room for a private meeting before the performance. Christian was also invited back to the dressing room after the concert. The normally outgoing boy was awestruck as he stood with his favorite singer, but the inhibitions disappeared when she kneeled down to talk to him. Christian asked her to sign a photo and then "interviewed" her with 10 prepared questions. One of the questions asked what her fondest wish would be. She answered: to grow up, get married, and have three beautiful children like Christian and his brothers. Later, she held her special fan's hand while doing a media interview.
Christian's mother described the wish experience as "truly magical," explaining, "There are no other words to describe it. For all of us as a family to be able to participate in the one thing that he imagined to be the greatest thing in the world – witnessing him being able to live his dream, happier than ever – was incredible. We didn't think about doctors, hospitals, or treatment during our entire trip. The experience was way beyond what any of us expected."
