While most people dread winter, it is the favorite time of year for 9-year-old Kyle of Wappingers Falls, N.Y., who enjoys skating and playing ice hockey. Kyle does not let cystic fibrosis keep him from imitating his idol, Dallas Stars goalie Eddie Belfour, whenever he plays goalie for his local team, the Dutchess County Hawks. When Kyle's wish-granting volunteers went to visit Kyle, he knew exactly what his wish would be - to meet Eddie Belfour and the rest of the championship team.

With all the fanfare that the Make-A-Wish Foundation could muster, Kyle was whisked off to his special day with Eddie Belfour and the Dallas Stars. From the very exclusive seating section called the Eagle's Nest, Kyle and his family were treated to the Stars practice session and the excitement of cheering their favorite team on to victory over the Ottawa Senators.
After the game, Kyle was given the VIP tour of the Stars locker room and a private meet-and-greet session with Eddie Belfour and the team. Eddie gave both Kyle and his brother Derek tips on goaltending. Kyle's mom said "both boys were thrilled to have the inside scoop from a 'real' goalie!"

And just when it seemed that the wish was over, Kyle had a wonderful surprise. Kyle and his brother visit Eddie Belfour's Web site daily. Soon after they returned home from the trip, Kyle's mom logged on to Belfour's Web site and saw that Eddie had written about Kyle and Derek on his Web page! He described them by saying, "They are both great kids. It was a lot of fun playing and knowing you guys were in the stands cheering for me." Kyle's mom said that it was like having Kyle's wish come true a second time. "Kyle's face lit up like it did the day of his wish."
