“ I wished to go to a luau in Maui ”
Name: Jaclyn
Wish granted: 2000
Age at the time of wish: 13
Granted by: Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana Chapter

Q: Why did you choose this wish?

A: I thought I would never have the opportunity to go to Maui in my life. It seemed like a beautiful place to spend a vacation

Q: What was one of your favorite memories from the wish?

A: My most favorite memory was when my family went on a dinner sunset cruise. It was a picturesque evening. There was dancing after dinner, where my mom, sister and I had a blast.

Q: What's your medical diagnosis now?

A: I have been in remission for seven years and continue to go for yearly check ups

Q: What are some of the highlights of your life now?

A: I am a new employee at the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana and a recent graduate of The University of Akron. I interned with the Make-A-Wish Foundation my senior year of college, and there was a job opening soon to follow my graduation.

Q: What did your wish mean to you?

A: The Make-A-Wish Foundation has taught me so much at such a young age. This Foundation showed me there are people in the world that spend their lives dedicated to helping others in a time of need. I learned that this, too, is how I wanted to live mine, by restoring hope to children that have lost it amidst a life-threatening medical condition.

Q: What do you want to tell people about the Make-A-Wish Foundation?

A: Make-A-Wish goes above and beyond the normal nonprofit. They grant children the opportunity to live life again and to have hope even in the most difficult times.
