This wish story makes me feel:

As the oldest child in his family, 10-year-old Davis is always looking out for his little siblings, including 6-year-old Peyton. Aside from being brothers, these two boys have something else in common – a rare, life-threatening medical condition known as anomalous coronary artery.

When the family first heard about the Make-A-Wish Foundation® , they thought there could only be one wish per family. Davis selflessly told his parents he wanted to give up his own dream and let his little brother’s wish come true. “Let’s let Peyton have his wish,” Davis said.

But Make-A-Wish Foundation staff members gave them some great news: The boys would each get to make their own wish. For Peyton, who was 3 years old at the time, the wish would include dolphins and the Magic Kingdom® . For Davis, then 8 years old, his most heartfelt wish involved his beloved Seattle Seahawks.

That summer, the family celebrated Peyton’s 4th birthday in California on a trip that included dining with Goofy at Disneyland® and taking a VIP tour of SeaWorld. Later that year, Davis spent a day with the Seahawks, meeting favorite players like Shaun Alexander and Matt Hasselback. “Davis basically had an all-access pass to anything and anywhere and anybody,” said Davis and Peyton’s dad. “I still don’t think he’s grasped everything he did during those two days.”

Both of the wish experiences brought hope, strength and joy to Davis and Peyton’s family amidst the uncertainty and worry associated with the boys’ illness. “[The Make-A-Wish Foundation] doesn’t have anything to do with finding a cure – it just has to do with making a child happy,” said Davis and Peyton’s mom, Brenda. “There’s nothing like seeing a child happy when they’re sick.”
