Make-A-Wish Foundation® and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition Team Up to Grant Wishes at Tulsa, Okla., Build

PHOENIX (Jan. 29, 2010) – The Make-A-Wish Foundation and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition team are making wishes coming true for some courageous children starting today during the ABC-TV show’s current home build in Tulsa, Okla.

Three children with life-threatening medical conditions will have their wishes granted on-site with the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition designers. Aspiring interior designer Callie London, 11, of Farmington, Utah, wished to design a room for another child. She will work with the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition design team during the seven-day build to create a room in the home constructed for the Starkweather family.

Samuel Bishop-Coleman, 13, of Orange City, Fla., and Jared Ward, 11, of Tomball, Texas, will realize their wishes to meet Extreme Makeover: Home Edition team leader Ty Pennington and also spend time watching the home build. (Note: Jared's wish has been delayed by inclement weather in the Tulsa area that closed the airport Friday.)

This wish-granting effort between the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition team resulted from the desire of one Starkweather family member to give back to other seriously ill kids like him. Ethan Starkweather, 10, was granted his wish to go to Walt Disney World® Resort by the Make-A-Wish Foundation in October 2008. He has supported the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Oklahoma as a wish ambassador, speaking about his wish experience at chapter events and leading a coin drive at his school to raise money for other kids’ wishes.

“Ethan’s enthusiasm to help other kids with life-threatening medical conditions see their fondest wish come true is genuinely inspiring,” said David Williams, Make-A-Wish Foundation of America president and chief executive officer. “We are thankful to the Extreme Makeover: Home Edition team for following Ethan’s lead and bringing joy to three kids and their families by granting their wishes this week.”
