Chronicles Athletes Granting Unique Sports-themed Experiences Through the Make-A-Wish Foundation®

Danielle Krause, Devan Muller, Noa Ornellas, Jennifer Walters, and Stephan Zepeda-LeColst are five children with life-threatening medical conditions whose unique sports-related wishes granted by ESPN and the Make-A-Wish Foundation will be chronicled in the ESPN SportsCenter "My Wish" series – returning after its successful debut in 2006. Their experiences will be the subject of SportsCenter feature segments airing June 24-28.

The series will feature five prominent athletes – Jimmie Johnson, Dwyane Wade, Michelle Kwan, David Ortiz and Drew Brees.

“My Wish” will again be hosted by Emmy Award-winning reporter Chris Connelly and sponsored by The Walt Disney Company. With more than 6,000 granted each year, Disney-themed wishes continue to be the most popular requests by wish kids with the Make-A-Wish Foundation. Each story and experience, taped and produced by SportsCenter's award-winning Features Unit, will be the subject of a lengthy segment, generally debuting on the 6 p.m. edition of SportsCenter.

“My Wish” first aired in 2006 (July 9-23). The critically acclaimed series won a Gold Medal at the 2007 New York Festival Awards for Outstanding Sports Special. It offered an unprecedented, behind-the-scenes look at the wish-granting experience with athletes such as Yankees captain Derek Jeter, Los Angeles Lakers star Kobe Bryant and New England Patriots linebacker Tedy Bruschi. This year’s segments, much like in 2006, will be produced by SportsCenter’s award-winning Features Unit, which has been recognized with five Emmy Awards and five Edward R. Murrow Awards in its five years of existence. The series reflects SportsCenter’s ongoing desire to meet and interact with its fans. In September 2004, the ESPN signature sports news program originated live for one week from Camp Arifjan Army base in Kuwait. In 2005, in its most ambitious initiative to date, SportsCenter took to the road, reporting segments from a combination of mainstream and unique sports events in all U.S. 50 states in 50 days.
