Aloha! That is the greeting wish kid Devaughn exclaimed each day of this Hawaiian wish adventure. The youngster from Michigan was the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Michigan’s official 20th birthday wish child. Devaughn decided that more than anything he wanted to see the ocean, take a boat ride, stay overnight in a fancy hotel and see some hula girls. What better place for Devaughn’s wish to come true than beautiful Kona, Hawaii?

The handsome young man, his parents, siblings and grandparents felt right at home during the entire trip. Devaughn did everything he wanted to do…and then some. The entire family enjoyed an afternoon at sea aboard a glass-bottom boat and had the opportunity to go snorkeling. Next, he was treated to a traditional luau complete with a Hawaiian feast and, of course, hula dancing.

In a moment right out of the pages of a classic western film, Devaughn and his family mounted their horses for a beautiful morning ride along the tropical Hawaiian countryside. They also enjoyed an incredible helicopter ride, replete with a spectacular view of Hawaii’s sandy beaches, ancient volcanoes and pineapple plantations.

After a week of sunshine and fun, a refreshed Devaughn said goodbye to his new Hawaiian friends and returned home with fabulous memories of his wish come true.

Across the United States, UAW-GM is playing a major role in commemorating the 20th birthday of the Make-A-Wish Foundation . This year, the Make-A-Wish Foundation honors 20 years and the granting of more than 80,000 wishes worldwide. The Foundation is celebrating its milestone in conjunction with honoring a three-year partnership with UAW-GM.

To kick-off the partnership, UAW-GM has contributed funds for the purpose of granting one wish in each of the Foundation’s 80 chapters across the country following the April 29 anniversary of Chris Greicius' wish to become a police officer. Chris' wish inspired the creation of the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
