This wish story makes me feel:

Many children wish for a trip to the sunny beaches of Hawaii, or to the summer tourist hot-spot of Orlando, Florida-but not Josh. Josh preferred a vacation where he could truly experience Mother Nature, northern style. When asked what his one wish in the world was, the child from Greeley, Colorado decided he wanted to travel to Alaska.

Josh, his mom, his 5-year-old brother Zack and a friend flew to Anchorage to begin Josh's wish experience. Upon arriving in Alaska, Josh received treatment befitting true VIP. He started off with a relaxing salmon fishing excursion at Ship Creek, the world's largest urban salmon fishery.

Josh then boarded a dome train for a 4-hour ride destined for Seward. One of the most memorable portions of his wish experience came when Josh boarded the USS Ananda, where he enjoyed a private sailboat charter to Resurrection Bay and Kenai Fjords National Park.

At this point, Josh had traveled by air, rail and sea-but his vacation was still far from over. Josh and his family went fishing once again, this time for silver salmon, in the breathtaking Alaskan sea.

Another special event took place during the trip when Josh celebrated his 11th birthday. The birthday cake was a welcome break from all the fish. Along with birthdays come special privileges, and Josh's was no exception. Josh was given special security clearance to tour the Alaskan Pipeline in Valdez.

To cap off what had already been an unforgettable wish experience, Josh and company went on a glacier cruise which included whale watching. Considering all that Josh was able to see and do in Alaska, he may have a career as an Alaskan tour guide awaiting him in the future.

Inspired Thoughts

  • Imagine that! 50 year old man and he still can be brought to tears! I wish every child that one special wish! Life is short, and shorter still for some. Lets not forget the blessings in our own lives, no matter how small or non important they seem.
