In the words of Justin's mother, "Justin's wish has changed his entire life." If you ask Justin, he would concur. "I don't think about being sick anymore. I just think about my wish." Justin's mom once lived in a lighthouse for more than a year. She shared her stories and photographs with Justin, serving as the inspiration of his dream to be a lighthouse keeper. After telling his wish granters from the Make-A-Wish Foundation^® that he wanted to be a lighthouse keeper, neither Justin nor his family was sure that it could be done. Not only was Justin's wish fulfilled, but it exceeded his wildest expectations.

The U.S. Coast Guard made Justin feel like one of their own. He helped steer the 87-foot cutter, Osprey, during its expedition in the Bay of Port Townsend. As the keeper of the Point Wilson Lighthouse, Justin had a number of vital responsibilities. In order to fulfill his duty, he was given a mini flashlight to use while making his rounds.

Justin was also presented with an official U.S. Coast Guard flight suit, which he wore for four consecutive days. Justin's mom was moved to tears after he was inducted by the district admiral as an official member of the U.S. Coast Guard.

Justin and his twin sister Michelle have a unique relationship that only twins can share. Michelle made the original suggestion to contact the Make-A-Wish Foundation about a wish for Justin. Michelle, Justin's parents, and the volunteers who helped fulfill Justin's wish were overcome with happiness in seeing how a wish could give Justin his exuberance back. He's even talking about a possible career in the Coast Guard, unless he decides to be an archeologist. Wherever Justin's career path takes him, he will always remember his wish experience as an incredible source of hope for him and his entire family.
