“I wish to go swimming with dolphins”

When volunteers from the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Northern Arizona asked Jessie what her fondest wish was, she did not hesitate. The 9-year-old knew exactly what she wanted – to swim with dolphins.

With sponsorship from UAW-GM, wish granters arranged for Jessie to go to Discovery Cove – a tropical paradise in Orlando, Florida, filled with friendly dolphins, adventuresome snorkeling, fun swimming, and tropical birds. The Arizona native flew Delta Air Lines and soon found herself in the Sunshine State.

While at Discovery Cove, Jessie realized her wish by riding Capricorn, a dolphin that starred in the movie "Jaws 3." She also got to be a trainer for a day and participated in a dolphin race, interacted with exotic birds, and fed dolphins and other sea creatures. Additionally, Jessie and her family received a 6-hour, behind-the-scenes tour of nearby SeaWorld.

When her marine adventure was complete, Jessie summed up her wish experience in three words. "It was cool!"
