Five-year-old Dalia possesses charm and outgoingness, and wins over fans with her bubbly personality. In many ways, she’s like the woman she asked volunteers with the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Orange County (California) to help her meet. The chatty young girl wished to meet entertainer Paulina Rubio and, what’s more, she earned the distinction being the Orange County chapter’s 1,600th wish.

Paulina Rubio began her career as a singer in the Mexican pop group Timbiriche and branched off into acting on soap operas. She has also hosted a Spanish variety show, but is really getting known in U.S. circles for her solo singing career. Wish granters arranged for Dalia to meet the self-proclaimed “border girl” during one of her U.S. concerts.

Dalia’s wish experience began with a send-off party at Chuck E. Cheese’s, a pizza restaurant filled with games and “owned” by a friendly, baseball-cap-wearing mouse. Dalia and her family then caught a plane to San Jose, Calif., where Paulina was performing. Their seats were in a prime spot – front and center, near the stage. Dalia was definitely feeling the “vibes” of the music, and danced in the aisle.

After the show ended, the energetic wish kid and her family – who all held VIP passes – ventured backstage to meet their favorite pop star. Dalia found her heroine and, without a second thought, ran up to her and hugged her. The two struck up a genuine friendship, and Paulina promised to send a special gift as a souvenir of the momentous day.
