Getting There is Half the Fun for Patsy
Ten-year-old Patsy was all smiles when she and her family walked into an American Airlines airport terminal decorated from floor to ceiling in banners featuring her name, balloons, and pinups from her favorite movie, “The Incredibles.”Patsy was on her way to the
Patsy was one of 16 wish kids from around the country invited to participate in the 10th annual WishFlight, a special collaboration between the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Something mAAgic Foundation and American Airlines/American Eagle to offer lucky wish kids the flight of a lifetime. Wish kids and their families receive VIP treatment from American Airlines/American Eagle as they depart airports in their home cities on their way to Orlando, Fla. Each of the children are treated like royalty and receive an enthusiastic sendoff from cheering American Airlines, American Eagle and Something mAAgic employee volunteers. They are announced like celebrities while in-flight and receive special attention like Patsy, who’s in-flight movie – “The Incredibles” – was chosen especially for her.
When Patsy and her family arrived in Orlando, they joined the other kids and families who participated in WishFlight. Together they stay at Give Kids The World® Village in Kissimmee, Fla., and play to their hearts’ content at Walt Disney World.
Thanks to Disney’s support of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, wish families enjoy tickets to Walt Disney World, special visits from Disney characters and many other magical surprises.
The Something mAAgic Foundation worked year-round to raise more than $46,000 to fund WishFlight and the accompanying festivities. It has raised $500,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation during the past 10 years.
